Minutes for October 10, 2022 

Attendance: Jason Popiel, Kathy Davis, Kent Davis, Andrew Winter, Louise Reed, Mark Winrod, April Percy, Tina Bundy, Angela Leonard 

Meeting Called to order: 1902. 

Meeting Minutes from August 15, 2022: 

Note there are no minutes from July 11, 2022 meeting. 

Note there was no meeting in September 2022 

Minutes reviewed - motion to approve Jason Popiel, Seconded by April Percy; motion carried. 

Financial Report: 

  • Financial statement for August 1 thru October 10, 2022, reviewed. 

Motion to approve Tina Bundy; seconded by Kathy Davis; motion carried. 

Music Director's report: 

  • Next competition Avon Lake 10/15 - call time 1100
  • OMEA State competition will be at Medina on 11/5 - performance time 12:45
  • Stadium Review is Thursday, November 10, 2022
  • Planning field trip to University of Akron for a concert on 11/3/2022 - self funding
  • Mr. Favalon is asking the CMA to pay his OMEA registration fee of $145.00 - this enables him to register students to participate in OMEA sponsored events such as Solo and Ensemble. Motion to approve by Mr. Winter; seconded by Louise Reed; motion carried.
  • Band to play at CAVS game on 11/20-ticket price is $30.00 per person; motion made by Louise Reed to have CMA pay 50% of student ticket, all guests pay full amount. Seconded by Mr. Winter; motion carried. 

Fundraisers: 

  • Discussed Cavalcade pros and cons; reviewed parking, prices, location, food ordering, water station- overall things went well. Mr. Winter made notations for next year.
  • Mrs. Leonard proposed a labor free fundraising idea- Grocery Shopping Spree raffle- she is going to get more details and collaborate with April Percy.
  • Cheese and Sausage fundraiser - orders will be in the week of 10/17 

Old Business: 

  • April Percy was nominated for the vacant Vice President office. Tina Bundy made motion to approve, seconded by Louise Reed; motion carried. Term commences immediately and ends in January 2024. Jason Popiel nominated for vacant Member at Large - Louise Reed made motion to approve; seconded by April Percy; motion carried. Term commences immediately and ends in January 2024.
  • What is the status of the school taking over the lease and insurance of band truck/trailer? - Have not heard anything back from the superintendent office. 

New Business: 

  • Mrs. Leonard would like to include the high school choirs in the next Florida trip to Disney in January 2024. 
  • Drama play concessions coming up - 11/3 thru 11/6/2022. 
  • Winter sport concessions will also be coming up starting in November. Schedule will be posted soon in Charms for signups. 
  • Nominating committee formed to search for candidate to replace Mark Winrod as President of CMA, whose term ends in January 2023.
