Meeting Minutes July 13, 2020

Meeting called to order: 1915

Meeting Minutes for May 11, 2020 and June 8, 2020: 

  • No corrections or additions
  • Motion to approve Paula Winrod; seconded Karen Gingrich; motion carried

Financial Report: 

  • Reviewed finance report: motion to approve Karen Gingrich, seconded Matt Strehle; motion carried
  • No funds to be spent during this time due to uncertainty of fund raising

Music Director Report:

  • At this time, we are still planning on regular marching band season.
  • Need to make adjustments on practice sessions due to building inaccessibility. 
  • Suggestion made to use tents to give students relief from sun.
  • Student will need to wear masks when not actively playing instrument; maintain social distance whenever possible
  • Waiting for results of a research study done in Colorado regarding aerosolization from instruments
  • Discussion concerning student screening, transportation, band camp meals– these issues still being worked out by district task force
  • No news yet on replacement of assistant marching band director, which is a supplemental contract
  • Mr.  Fudale position will not be replaced; music courses will be redistributed among the 5 existing music educators in the district; not decided yet who will be doing what.

Fundraisers:

    • Marching Band trip 2021 – still planning for trip; not collecting money from parents at this time; discussion to delay trip to later time if January not approved
  • Cheese and sausage fundraiser to start in July. 
  • Band swag store set up by Jennifer Bryant – t-shirts, signs, drinkware

Old Business:

  • Need volunteers for the Medina County Fair – please sign up in Charms; less people needed since we will not be making popcorn
  •  

New Business:

  • No new business not discussed in above areas
